The Deal had 120 days. The Deal was started on 22nd July 2022. The transportation was done through the Black Sea. Russia and Ukraine agreed to a Safe Corridor of the Grain Deal. Without Russia’s permission, the Grain Deal could not have happened. This deal was Positive news in the Ukraine war. The Countries which want Peace between Russia and Ukraine welcomed the Grain Deal.
Many Countries in the world are affected by Food Crisis. Inflation is also increasing.
The Ukraine war has become a Prolonged war. India and many countries have recommended Peace Talks for the End of the War. Suddenly Russia pulled back from the Grain Deal. America and the West are saying that Russia is turning food into a weapon. The UK has condemned the Grain Deal. The EU has issued a warning to Russia.
Who is receiving these Grain exports from Ukraine?
Let’s discuss Odesa, Chornomorsk and Pivdennyi are the three ports used to export the grain. Russia agreed to a 120-day Grain Deal. Ukraine will be allowed to export its Grain. The EU then will oversee the transport and order the ships to the Food Crisis Countries. Through the World Food Programme, the grain will be sent to countries. Ukraine will receive Hard Currency.
This Currency is used by Ukraine in the war. Russia and Ukraine are facing many economic crises. Ukraine is known as the Bread Basket of the world. Many Poor Countries were dependent on Ukraine’s grain. This war has affected this Food Chain. The Former PM of the UK Liz Truss’s Phone has been hacked.

Who hacked Liz Truss’s Phone?
The UK PM Candidate’s Phone has been hacked. A report says that through the Grain Deal only 108 Ships have left the Ukraine Shores. Nearly 47% of the ships have gone to Turkey and Asian Countries. These Ships went to Turkey and Asian Countries and sailed to many countries. We don’t know which country bought the Grain Exports. But the Shipping lines report says that 47% of these Ships have traveled to Turkey and Asian Countries.
The Grain deal is concentrated on Supplying the African Countries. Drought has led to hunger and Starvation in African Countries.
This was the reason the EU said to make Russia accept the Grain Deal. But sadly only 17% of the Ships have reached African Countries. The Remaining 36% have gone to the Wealthy EU Countries. An Investigation is requested to look into the 47% of Exports of Grain from Ukraine.
Putin called for an investigation in a press meeting. Putin said that only 3% of the Grain Exports reached the African Continent. He accused that 97% of the Grain has gone to Rich and Wealthy Countries. Putin accused the EU of stealing grain from African Countries. Putin also raised many questions about the Grain Deal. The next day Russia announced that its Navy Ship in the Black Sea was hit by a Ukraine missile. Putin immediately ended the Grain Deal.
This is a huge loss for Ukraine. Ukraine thought of exporting 40 Lakh Tons of Grain. Ukraine before the war expected nearly 60 Lakh tons of grain for exports in these months. But a Lower yield and the War have led to declining of 20 Lakh Tons of Grain this year. On a monthly basis, Ukraine has to export nearly 30 Lakh Tons of Grain to support its war and People.
So the expected 40 Lakh Grain Exports have been done. Within the past 4 months, Ukraine could have exported Nearly 1.20 Crore Tons of Grain. Ukraine exports its grain after the harvesting season. This 1.20 Crore Ton of Grain will be newly harvested grain. Ukraine has already exported 40 Lakhs Tons.
What will happen if Russia blocks the 1.20 Crore tons exports?
There are not enough storage Facilities in Ukraine to store the grain. In India, we know that many harvest products are lost due to the lack of Storage Facilities. In Ukraine war is raging, and the infrastructure is heavily affected in the country. Transports are low, and Electricity is very low. Nearly 30 to 40 % of energy sectors have been destroyed.
There is no way Ukraine can store the 1.20 Crore tons of grain. Ukraine is dependent on Grain exports. Ukraine will lose the Hard Currency if they don’t export. They cannot store the Grain. There are possibilities that the Harvested Grain may go to waste. These are Ukraine’s losses.
What losses will the International community suffer?
If there is no Ukraine Grain many countries will suffer from Hunger and Starvation. These are mainly low-income or Poor Countries. But the recent exports of Grain through the Grain Deal went to Wealthy EU Countries. The Percentage of Grain reaching Poor countries is very low.
In the Current scenario, there is no chance the grain will reach these poor countries. The EU will be directly affected if the exports are stopped by Russia.
EU has faced unprecedented Drought this year. Due to the Heatwaves and drought in the EU, the production of Grain has reduced by 15 to 18%. Maize, Barley, and wheat Production were reduced. The EU is facing a food Crisis because of the Drought and Heat Waves.
The EU is already suffering from Inflation which has increased from 9.1% to 10.5%. The Prices of products have increased. The Oil prices have also increased. Wheat is in demand in the EU. Russia has stopped the Ukraine grain to the EU.
What will happen if the EU doesn’t import the Ukraine grain?
Prices of all products will rise. Wheat is the main ingredient that is used for food in the EU. From Biscuits to other products they need Wheat. EU People are dependent on Wheat. If the Ukraine grain is stopped. The EU will face a massive food crisis. This is the reason Putin has ordered the ban on Exports. The EU recently has increased its support to Ukraine against Russia by giving Air Defence systems.
EU has also been involved in passing various Economic sanctions on Russia. EU is trying to Isolate Russia from the World. Putin knows the damage it will do if he stops the exports of Grain to the EU. Putin is using Food as a Weapon as Winter Is coming. America and the West are accusing Putin of using food as a weapon. It is true that Russia is using Food as a Weapon.
But the EU has not sent the grain to the low-income or Poor Countries. These Exports which should go to poor countries are re-routed to the EU Countries. The EU stole the grain by diverting the exports. EU is engaged in an indirect deal of Grain for Weapons with Ukraine. This is Russia’s accusation which turns out to be the truth.
Ukraine’s hard Currency is earned through the indirect exports of grain. The EU is also supporting Ukraine with weapons and equipment for Grain. Russia says that if the Ukraine grain is stopped the EU will face a massive crisis.
What are the losses for Russia?
Grain exports in Russia have decreased by 40%. Many Countries have passed economic sanctions against Russia. Russian fertilizers top the export charts. Many Countries are affected because they cannot import from Russia due to the sanctions. There was news that The UK will face a huge Drought in 2023. The UK is facing many internal issues. The UK and the EU were dependent on Ukraine and Russia for Grain.
They could not have predicted Putin’s move. Now many Countries will be forced to sign new deals with Russia directly. Many Countries will ask for the Grain Deal to be extended. Some countries may also cancel their economic sanctions on Russia. Many Countries will call upon Russia for New Deals.
EU and the UK are facing a massive internal crisis. There are also conspiracy theories that America is the reason behind the Ukraine war. There are theorists who say that America planned this Ukraine war to make the EU an Unstable region. Due to the Ukraine war, The losses for America are very low whereas the losses for the EU and the Uk are very high.
America is the main supplier of weapons to Ukraine. America is prolonging the war for its own profits. Many Countries which thought that the Grain Deal may lead to Peace talks are disappointed.
